#3 CAPTAIN'S NOISELETTER
While our country melts, we’re counting down to cooler days and louder nights, because in just a few months we finally get to play our Belgian Boy release show at AB Brussels on October 17.
Hello again from your favorite bunch of Kempen punkers!
We’re back with newsletter number 3, because apparently this is a thing we do now.
While our country melts, we’re counting down to cooler days and louder nights, because in just a few months we finally get to play our Belgian Boy release show at AB Brussels on October 17.
In this newsletter: a few updates, a sweaty photo or two and some stuff you might have missed.
Stay hydrated. Or drink beer. Your call.
XOXO CK
TRACK TALK : BELGIAN BOY
Each edition, we shine a light on one track from our new album Belgian Boy. Lyrics, memories, mistakes, and magic. Track Talk gives you the full backstage pass to how the song came to be (or almost didn’t).
“Belgian Boy” is both the heart of the album and one of its most complicated children.
This track had many lives. It started one way, then became something else, then something else again. At times, we doubted if we’d ever get it right. But we’re glad we didn’t give up on it. Now it’s not only on the album, it is the album. Our title track. And we’re proud of where it landed.
The way we write songs isn’t very traditional. No clear roles, no step by step process. It’s more like someone has a spark and the rest of us throw some fuel on it. This one started with Sascha and a lyric written on holiday, paired with some chords found through keyboard presets. It was a rough little idea, but it grew over time. Do you want to check out how this song started out? Listen to that particular demo Sascha sent to the rest of us and get a first impression of our song Belgian Boy.

ROAD TO AB
The road to AB wasn’t smooth, but it was loud, sweaty, and totally worth it. In this series, we dive into past shows that helped define CAPTAIN KAISER. From chaotic club nights to unexpected magic, we’re digging up every riff and memory that’s bringing us to October 17.
Belgium’s currently one big sweaty mess and it’s got us thinking back to the hottest show we’ve ever played.
Picture this: 30°C outside, probably hotter inside. We’d spent the entire week prepping Kaiser Fest: Lifting stuff, sweating through our shirts, trying to keep the vibe alive while dreaming of sleep.
So when it was time to drive to Gent for our show at Kinky Star, morale wasn’t exactly sky-high. But like true sweaty punkrockers, we went anyway.
THANK GOD WE DID!
We arrived exhausted. But the moment we plugged in and hit the first chord, something switched. The room erupted. People screamed every word. The air was humid and seemed to be at least 50 degrees, it felt like we were playing in a sauna.
But no one cared, not the audience and certainly not us.
That show reminded us, music doesn’t ask if you’re tired. It just pulls you in and we went willingly.
Let’s see if AB can match that heat literally and figuratively

BETTER THAN KISS
Welcome to Better Than KISS, the part of the newsletter where we yell about amazing Belgian artists you might’ve missed. One of us picks a Belgian artist he loves. No face paint, just good music. Go listen.
Quinten’s pick: LOTUS is an alternative hardcore band from the northern part of Belgium, in a small town called Rijkevorsel. I grew up in this town as well. When they started many years ago, I immediately fell in love with their sound, the aesthetic of their artwork, and the overall vibe of the band. You can hear influences from classic acts such as Ceremony, Blacklisted, and Shipwreck AD.
Their music blends heavy yet melodic guitar work, powerful drumming, and an innovative bass line. The real standout, however, is the vocals, which are delivered with grit, raw intensity, and aggression. Experiencing Lotus live makes this even more striking.
I also want to highlight the strength of their lyrics. They’re heartfelt, emotionally heavy, and skillfully written, with impressive variety and clear thematic depth. I hope they’re working on new material, because I truly can’t wait to hear what comes next.
THAT’S IT FOR NOW
Thanks for sticking with us through sweaty memories and messy writing sessions. Belgian Boy is finally the song we always knew it could be. And Gent? Still smells like warm beer and glory.
If you want to support the kaiserboys, grab the Belgian Boy vinyl (pre-orders are live now!) or check our fresh new merch. It’s all on our website.
Catch you in AB.
